Travel insurance - Tips & Advice - Understanding travel insurance
If you have a family, it can make sense to organise your travel insurance cover under one policy. It cuts down on paperwork and can give you added discounts. That’s why Direct Line offers family travel insurance cover on both our Annual and Single-trip policies.
Family members count as ‘another traveller’ when you apply for Direct Line Travel Insurance. There are no set premiums – just give us all the details of family members you want to include and we’ll tailor-make a policy for you. The premium charged on children is related to their age, the destination/duration and any specified activities plus medical conditions. In some cases it can be cheaper to insure you and your child rather than just you. For an instant quote for you and your family, it’s easy to apply online. If you have any queries you can call us.
Direct Line Family Annual travel insurance provides cover for specified family members throughout the year (up to 42 days per trip, 120 days a year) under one policy. Adult family members can travel with you or independently. Children can travel with you or independently if they are going on supervised or school trips.
We provide group travel insurance on single trips for up to 15 specified travellers per policy – this includes family members, of course. Children under 17 years of age need to be on a parent or guardian’s policy in any case.
Direct Line Single-trip or Annual family travel insurance covers you and your family members for personal possessions up to £1,500 and personal money up to £500 per person. It includes medical and emergency expenses abroad up to £5 million and cancellation and curtailment to £5,000 per person. Your policy also covers you and your family for personal accident, personal liability, delayed departure, loss of passport and legal assistance. Direct Line’s Annual multi-trip policy also covers you and your family for essential replacement of items or abandoned journeys.
Family skiing holidays can also be covered with optional winter sports cover, in case of accident or emergency. This can also include cover for winter sports equipment, piste closure and ski pass and fees.
With Direct Line family travel insurance you don’t need to worry about filling out numerous documents or taking them with you on holiday – you can get an instant family travel insurance cover quote or buy online now.
