A Direct Line survey of 2,000 motorists showed that the average driver will break down on about 20 occasions during his or her driving life. It seems, then, that even if you’re lucky, you will experience a number of breakdowns, which makes rescue insurance important cover to have.

Direct Line offers five different levels of breakdown cover , starting from as little as £23 per year. It covers all the essentials such as roadside assistance, with an average response time of around 40 minutes. If your vehicle can’t be fixed at the roadside (8 out of 10 cars can be), we’ll transport you and your car to a suitable garage. We also offer a message service to let your friends and family know what’s happened.

Or you can opt for a higher level of cover:

  • Rescue Plus also covers your car at home; Recovery includes transportation for your car (and everybody in it) to your home, your destination or a garage if we can’t fix your car that day;
  • Recovery Plus also includes either a hire car, or the cost of alternative travel to your home or destination, or B&B at a local hotel (if you’re 25 miles or more from home).
  • Finally, there’s EuroPlus for those travelling on the continent.

Direct Line offer you a good deal better: rescue insurance applies to the car, not the driver, so your car is covered no matter who is driving it, and there’s a no callout discount that could save you up to 10% off the following year’s cover.

Best of all, there are further savings to be made if you want two or more cars covered and up to 20% off if you apply for rescue insurance online. Why not get a quote today?
